Advanced Wellness Club: “Wellness 101”

Congratulations on taking an interest in one of our Wellness classes offered at Advanced Wellness Club (AWC)! We hope you enjoy the many potential benefits that “Wellness 101” has to offer, and we’re excited that you’ve decided to invest in your health!

Most of our clients will start with our introductory class called “Wellness 101”.

We’ve designed this 4-week class especially for our adult clients who have little to no experience with Pilates or Connective Tissue Release. Many of them have some ongoing aches and pains, issues with balance, or other concerns that make joining a larger class more difficult. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place!

“Wellness 101” is also a great option for you if you’re returning to Pilates and would like to gain more of an understanding about the foundational aspects of Pilates, such as breathing, posture, mobility before stability, awareness and mindfulness. It’s easy to miss some of these components in a larger class, although they’re vital to maximizing the benefits of Pilates.

We’re going to list a few of the main features of classes, and then we’ll talk about the several FAQs (frequently asked questions).

What Makes Our Class Unique:

  • Our Pilates classes are specially designed for adults and older adults.
  • Foundational principles of Pilates are emphasized, including breathing, posture, core stability, awareness and mindfulness. Focusing on these principles allows our clients to create positive changes in their lives.
  • We maintain small classes sizes of no more than 6 people, which allows for individualized attention from the instructor. Our highly trained and licensed professionals will guide you through a safe, motivated and fun workout to improve your overall strength, flexibility, posture and balance.
  • Class rosters are set, and we don’t typically allow “walk-ins”. At times, additional students may join ongoing Pilates classes if space is available. However, these opportunities will be planned in advance. Having a set roster, limited to no more than 6 people, allows our clients to enjoy a predictable class experience.

No specific equipment is required to attend our Wellness 101 classes. If you already have an exercise mat, please feel free to bring it with you. We’ll provide everything else!

Can I bring a friend or spouse/ significant other to Wellness 101?

If space allows, you’re allowed one “buddy pass” for a friend or loved one. These requests must be made in advance with our instructor. Please remember that “drop-ins”are not allowed at any time. You’re also allowed to repeat the 4-week Wellness 101 course( via your monthly membership, not the $49 introductory fee), which is a good option if you’d like to participate in Pilates with a friend or loved one.

How often are classes offered?

Wellness 101 is designed as a once/week course. After this course, you can continue coming to Pilates once/week, or you can arrange to come twice a week.

What happens if I miss a class?

In general, we are NOT able to accommodate missed classes with “make-up” classes. This is due to the small class sizes, and the fact that our classes are typically full.
